PostgreSQL Solution Architect – Presales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with sales teams to evaluate opportunities and uncover customer business motivations, technical specifications, and decision-making criteria.

• Facilitate technical discovery discussions with customers and potential clients.

• Analyze Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration opportunities, including architecture, application interdependencies, compatibility, data transfer, cutover strategies, testing, and operational models.

• Provide product demonstrations, technical presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concept engagements.

• Develop PostgreSQL solution strategies that align with customer needs and operational goals.

• Address technical sections of RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires.

• Assist in customer evaluations that involve architecture, performance, migration, compatibility, security, integration, operations, and maintainability.

• Offer guidance on database modernization, platform strategies, PostgreSQL support, maintenance, backup and recovery, high availability, performance, security, and readiness for production.

• Work closely with Product and Product Marketing to gather field feedback, market requirements, and competitive insights.

• Convert discovery insights into defined services, support models, estimates, assumptions, exclusions, and handover documentation.

• Keep updated on the PostgreSQL ecosystem, cloud service providers, open-source tools, extensions, vendors, migration partners, and competitors.

• Contribute to enablement resources, demo environments, reusable materials, and internal knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 8+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, architecture, performance tuning, query optimization, high availability, backup/recovery, security, extensions, replication, upgrade planning, patch management, and production operations.

• 5+ years of experience in solution consulting, sales engineering, database consulting, or technical pre-sales roles.

• Experience with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration, encompassing architecture evaluation, application and schema compatibility, migration tools, performance validation, cutover planning, and post-migration support needs.

• Familiarity with customer discussions regarding cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Proficient in conveying technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.

• Experience leading technical demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-concept or proof-of-value engagements.

• Strong written communication skills for crafting proposals, technical responses, and customer follow-ups.

• Ability to operate across US time zones and travel as required.

• Preferred: knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, DevOps workflows, and automation tools.

• Preferred: experience with MEDDPICC, Challenger, or value-based selling methodologies.

• Preferred: background in open-source databases, the PostgreSQL ecosystem, enterprise support, database migration, cloud databases, or data infrastructure markets.
