PostgreSQL Solution Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with sales teams to evaluate opportunities and determine customer business drivers, technical needs, and criteria for decision-making.

• Facilitate technical discovery discussions with clients and potential customers.

• Evaluate Oracle-to-PostgreSQL opportunities, considering architecture, dependencies, compatibility, data migration, cutover, testing, and operational models.

• Present product demonstrations, technical presentations, workshops, and proof-of-value initiatives.

• Develop PostgreSQL solution strategies that align with customer needs and operational goals.

• Address the technical components of RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires.

• Assist in customer evaluations focusing on architecture, performance, migrations, compatibility, security, integration, operations, and maintainability.

• Provide guidance on PostgreSQL enterprise support, incident management, maintenance, backup and recovery, high availability, performance, security, and production readiness.

• Work with Product and Product Marketing to gather field insights, market demands, and competitive intelligence.

• Convert discovery insights into scoped services, support frameworks, estimates, assumptions, exclusions, and transition documents.

• Keep up-to-date with the PostgreSQL ecosystem, cloud service providers, open-source tools, extensions, vendors, partners, and competitors.

• Assist in the development of enablement tools, demonstration environments, reusable materials, and internal knowledge sharing.

• Play a key role in establishing Spinnaker Support’s PostgreSQL practice in EMEA through repeatable solution patterns, discovery methodologies, migration strategies, and field training.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• At least 8+ years of practical experience in PostgreSQL administration, architecture, performance tuning, query optimization, high availability, backup/recovery, security, extensions, replication, upgrade planning, patch management, and production operations.

• 5+ years of experience in solution consulting, sales engineering, database consulting, or technical pre-sales roles.

• Proficiency in Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration, including architecture evaluation, application and schema compatibility, migration tools, performance validation, cutover planning, and post-migration support requirements.

• Experience in facilitating customer discussions regarding cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Capability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and executive audiences.

• Proven experience in leading technical demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-concept or proof-of-value sessions.

• Strong writing skills for proposals, technical responses, and customer follow-ups.

• Willingness to work across EMEA time zones and travel as necessary.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, DevOps processes, and automation tools.

• Exposure to MEDDPICC, Challenger, or value-based selling methodologies.

• Proficiency in multiple languages relevant to the EMEA region.

• Experience in open-source databases, the PostgreSQL ecosystem, enterprise support, database migration, cloud databases, or data infrastructure markets.
