This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Ensures that the community knowledge policy is executed and administered in accordance with program standards and guidelines, promoting the accomplishment of ONWA’s nine strategic priorities related to policy.
• Provides direction to the policy team to guarantee that analyses are performed through an Indigenous Gender-Based Analysis and a human rights perspective.
• Works in partnership with other ONWA teams to ensure that insights from engagements with ONWA members and community members are incorporated into policy submissions, briefs, legislative evaluations, and other policy-related documents.
• Leads a team in defining, analyzing, developing, and evaluating policies aimed at fostering positive change for Indigenous women and their families, while honouring, respecting, and restoring Indigenous women’s leadership.
• Oversees projects and collaborates with stakeholders and community members to collect input and disseminate information.
• A bachelor’s degree in Policy, Social Sciences, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Women’s Studies, or Public Administration.
• At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Significant experience in drafting and analyzing policy and issues impacting Indigenous families, along with knowledge of community resources.
• Proven administrative management experience with the capability to supervise a team and provide necessary information and support.
• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with partners and stakeholders to achieve collaborative solutions to complex challenges.
• Demonstrated skills in stakeholder management, with the ability to build and maintain credible and trusting relationships with senior management, community members, and partners.
• Experience in financial planning, program/project management, planning processes, reporting, results-based planning, and annual planning within budget constraints.
• Strong human resources skills and the ability to function as a team member while also working independently to meet deadlines.
• Experience in preparing written submissions, drafting policy, and analyzing government policies, legislation, regulations, engagement strategies, and agreements concerning Indigenous women, families, and communities.
• Solution-oriented with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience in coordinating workshops and/or conferences.
• Ability to effectively communicate and exert influence throughout the organization.
• Creative, adaptable, and strategically oriented towards organizational change.
• Strong decision-making abilities to set priorities and efficiently allocate time and resources.
• Proficient in MS Office software, internet applications, and general office equipment.
