This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Collaborate with industrial clients to understand operational requirements and design control system architecture.
• Create estimates for comprehensive integration solutions that encompass engineering, control panels, HMI setup, PLC programming, installation, and commissioning.
• Evaluate proposal specifications and drawings for estimates related to industrial electrical projects.
• Assess costs for new construction and retrofit upgrades.
• Recognize opportunities to upgrade aging industrial infrastructure, including migrations from legacy Allen-Bradley PLC-5 systems.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits for take-offs.
• Generate project takeoffs, submittals, and proposals.
• Solicit vendor quotes while accurately sizing and sourcing PLC and HMI hardware/software.
• Ensure timely completion of client-required documentation.
• Draft scopes of estimates that include inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
• Identify and fulfill customer needs and requirements.
• Maintain documentation supporting estimate figures and supplier pricing.
• Support colleagues in other departments and carry out additional tasks as assigned.
• At least 5 years of experience in the industrial electrical sector.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimating.
• Journeyman Electrician license is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
• Strong functional understanding of PLC platforms and industrial networks.
• Capability to conceptualize and specify complete PLC/HMI hardware and software solutions based on limited customer input.
• Background in automation and controls, including PLCs, instrumentation, valves, and control panels is advantageous.
• Familiarity with NECA rates and structures.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA-70E standards.
• Understanding of material quoting, RFQs, and vendor relationships.
• Ability to address or escalate conflicts in specifications and inaccuracies in drawings.
• Familiarity with estimating/installing electrical raceway, including cable tray, EMT, rigid, IMC, and plastibond.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and automation construction drawings, wiring details, P&IDs, layouts, panel drawings, BOMs, and complex specifications.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.
• Advanced or expert knowledge of Accubid, including databases, projects, custom assemblies, labor rates, difficulty modifiers, and LiveCount.
• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, owners, and specialty equipment suppliers.
• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player in a remote environment.
