Platform Engineer, Staff

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the architecture of Shakepay's internal developer platform.

• Design and construct the core infrastructure that supports our expanding systems and teams.

• Spearhead the development of internal tools and automations that greatly enhance developer productivity.

• Design and implement infrastructure-as-code and GitOps methodologies throughout the platform.

• Develop and refine observability systems, including monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.

• Create and implement AI-driven internal tools and agentic workflows that automate operational and development tasks.

• Enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of our production environment.

• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to advocate for system design and operational best practices.

• Lead technical initiatives that span multiple engineering teams.

• Mentor engineers and guide technical decisions through design reviews and architecture discussions.

• Influence the long-term technical vision of our infrastructure and platform ecosystem.

• Engage in incident response and drive enhancements in operational resilience.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps.

• Strong programming skills (e.g., Go, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent).

• Extensive experience in designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.

• Significant experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment systems.

• Experience in designing internal platforms or developer tools utilized by multiple teams.

• Proven track record of enhancing developer experience and engineering velocity through platform improvements.

• Experience in creating tools or workflows utilizing AI/LLMs to automate tasks or improve developer productivity.

• Excellent system design capabilities and architectural insight.

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects across various teams.

• Exceptional collaboration and communication abilities.

• Pragmatic, problem-solving mindset focused on achieving business outcomes.
