Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Construct, configure, and sustain platform infrastructure within Microsoft Azure utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

• Assist in the operation and ongoing enhancement of the Azure Databricks platform, covering configuration, automation, monitoring, access management, and troubleshooting.

• Manage and enhance the Azure Kubernetes-based platform for the Data & AI division.

• Facilitate the deployment, management, and scaling of services through GitOps and CI/CD methodologies.

• Execute platform modifications and capabilities in accordance with architectural patterns, security protocols, and engineering standards.

• Create reusable automation and self-service platform functionalities for engineering, Data, and AI teams.

• Oversee platform health, investigate operational challenges, and address standard support inquiries.

• Collaborate with colleagues in Platform, Data, AI, MLOps, and Security.

• Engage in technical discussions, documentation, architecture and design dialogues, and platform enhancement initiatives.

• Persistently enhance knowledge of cloud-native and Data & AI platforms while exploring relevant technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, including knowledge of compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.

• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, particularly with Terraform.

• Familiarity with Helm is an advantage.

• Experience in creating or maintaining deployment pipelines.

• Knowledge of Git-based development and delivery workflows.

• Understanding of logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production or platform settings.

• Capability to independently resolve common operational issues.

• Experience with Python, Go, or Shell for automation of infrastructure and platform tools.

• Familiarity with Azure Databricks or similar Data & AI platforms, or strong motivation to gain expertise.

• Basic understanding of Data, Machine Learning, or AI workloads.

• Ability to take ownership, organize tasks autonomously, communicate progress and challenges, and seek input when necessary.

• Comfortable collaborating with engineers and stakeholders while clearly explaining technical concepts.

• Proficiency in English.

• German language skills are a plus.
