Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Enable developers to take charge of the operation, performance, and availability of our services, offering guidance and mentorship when needed.

• Create, write, and deliver software that improves the lives of our engineers, enhances scalability, and fosters platform innovation.

• Establish, secure, and optimize the cloud infrastructure that underpins our platform, ensuring consistent high availability and performance.

• Participate in our on-call rotation, providing essential support and maintaining service reliability.

• Define, promote, and construct a robust edge networking strategy for our domains.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement—measure, automate, and refine processes and systems.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, platform engineers, and security specialists, to align infrastructure with company objectives and facilitate seamless application development and deployment.

• Uphold and advocate for security best practices and compliance standards across all infrastructure and processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Technical experience with Cloud (preferably AWS), focusing on defining, securing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

• Proficient understanding of Continuous Integration/Deployment tools and practices.

• Appreciation for distributed systems.

• Commitment to writing clean, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code.

• Proficient in at least one programming language (ideally Python or Golang) and scripting (bash).

• Knowledge of network infrastructure design.

• Experience with consuming RESTful web services.

• A strong passion for the security, reliability, and scalability of deliverables.

• Approach work with a product mindset, focusing on user outcomes and making data-driven decisions.

• Self-driven and capable of delivering consistent results through effective problem-solving.

• Exhibits a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and improvement.

• Able to effectively prioritize competing demands.

• Adaptable to a dynamic working environment.

• Continuously assess the team’s workflows and contribute to their improvement and automation.

• Understanding of operating Postgres or another major RDBMS at scale.

• Experience with Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with a CDN provider and WAF (such as Cloudflare or Fastly).

• Experience with other major HashiCorp projects (like Vault).

• Knowledge of modern Linux systems internals (including kernel, filesystems, network stack, and systemd).

• Experience in mentoring others.
