This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete architecture for Accela's cloud platform, encompassing Azure infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, identity, security, and platform services.
• Establish and uphold architecture standards, reference patterns, and technical guidelines to ensure scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Spearhead architecture reviews and facilitate technical decision-making via the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) process.
• Formulate a long-term technical strategy for modernization efforts, including cloud-native transformation, platform integration, and infrastructure advancement.
• Create architectural strategies for multi-tenant SaaS environments, addressing tenant isolation, observability, resilience, and data residency requirements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure architecture aligns with business goals and regulatory obligations.
• Convert compliance mandates, such as FedRAMP, GovRAMP, PCI-DSS, and SOC2, into scalable technical capabilities and platform controls.
• Outline target-state architecture for shared services and cross-product functionalities across various acquired technology platforms.
• Oversee architecture exceptions and offer guidance on complex technical trade-offs affecting multiple engineering teams.
• Mentor and guide senior engineers, staff engineers, and architects, promoting architectural best practices and technical excellence.
• Assess emerging technologies and industry trends to shape platform strategy and future investments.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in designing and managing large-scale distributed systems.
• More than 5 years of experience in a Principal Architect, Staff Architect, or similar technical leadership position within a SaaS environment.
• Extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure, including AKS, APIM, networking, identity, security, and infrastructure services.
• Strong experience in Kubernetes architecture, covering workload design, multi-tenancy, RBAC, GitOps, and platform operations.
• Proven experience in architecting and operating large-scale multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams without direct management authority.
• Experience in regulated environments that require compliance with frameworks such as FedRAMP, GovRAMP, PCI-DSS, or SOC2.
• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to influence technical and business stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
