Principal Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of platform and cloud architecture.

• Define and enhance Tango’s platform architecture across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

• Lead initiatives for cloud modernization.

• Develop reference architectures and establish guardrails.

• Set standards and practices for reliability.

• Enhance observability and operational readiness.

• Identify systemic bottlenecks.

• Offer technical leadership for the architectures and operational controls necessary for FedRAMP / government cloud certification readiness.

• Collaborate with Security/Compliance to translate controls into engineering requirements.

• Promote and advocate for best practices.

• Mentor senior engineers, technical leads, and emerging technical leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong working knowledge across various technology stacks, including Java/J2EE, Oracle, Postgres, and modern frontend frameworks (React and Vue.js).

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.

• Experience in designing and operating distributed systems for B2B SaaS, with a strong emphasis on resiliency, scalability, and cost/performance trade-offs.

• Experience with global cloud systems, including multi-region setups, disaster recovery, high availability, and data residency considerations.

• Experience supporting FedRAMP and/or similar government cloud certification initiatives.

• Proven capability to influence others without direct authority.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• A coaching mindset with demonstrated success in mentoring and developing engineers across various teams.
