Platform Engineer 2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Construct, configure, and oversee Microsoft Azure platform infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.

• Assist in the operation and ongoing enhancement of the Azure Databricks platform, encompassing configuration, automation, monitoring, access management, and troubleshooting.

• Manage and enhance the Azure Kubernetes-based platform for the Data & AI division.

• Deploy, administer, and scale services employing GitOps and CI/CD methodologies.

• Execute platform modifications and introduce new functionalities in accordance with architectural patterns, security protocols, and engineering standards.

• Contribute to reusable automation and self-service platform functionalities.

• Monitor platform performance, investigate operational challenges, resolve standard support issues, and escalate complex problems as necessary.

• Collaborate with colleagues in Platform, Data, AI, MLOps, and Security.

• Engage in technical discussions, documentation, and platform enhancements.

• Participate in architecture and design dialogues and implement mutually agreed-upon solutions.

• Continuously enhance understanding of cloud-native and Data & AI platform technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure and a solid grasp of compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.

• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.

• Familiarity with Helm is a bonus.

• Experience in creating or maintaining deployment pipelines and Git-based development and delivery workflows.

• Understanding of logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production or platform environments.

• Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Go, or Shell.

• Familiarity with Azure Databricks or analogous Data & AI platforms, or a strong desire to acquire hands-on expertise.

• Basic knowledge of Data, Machine Learning, or AI workloads.

• Capability to take ownership, independently organize tasks, communicate progress and challenges, and seek input on unfamiliar or complex subjects.

• Comfortable working with engineers and stakeholders and clearly explaining technical topics.

• Eagerness to continually enhance technical skills and contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering practices.

• Proficiency in English.

• German language skills are an advantage.
