Plaintiff Insurance Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee first-party property insurance cases from pre-litigation through to resolution.

• Assess incoming claims to determine their viability, strategy, and potential value.

• Maintain direct communication with clients throughout the duration of each case.

• Prepare pleadings, discovery materials, motions, demands, and other essential litigation documents.

• Conduct legal research to aid in the development of case strategies.

• Take and defend depositions as experience permits.

• Engage in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and settlement discussions.

• Negotiate with insurance carriers and defense counsel effectively.

• Collaborate with adjusters, engineers, experts, and other professionals involved in property claims.

• Keep organized case files, manage deadlines, and maintain client communication in a remote setting.

• Work alongside senior attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff.

• Enhance expertise in plaintiff-side insurance litigation while assuming greater case responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active South Carolina Bar license in good standing.

• Approximately 2+ years of relevant civil litigation experience.

• Practical experience with pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, negotiations, or comparable litigation work.

• Strong skills in legal writing and analysis.

• Ability to efficiently manage deadlines and competing priorities independently.

• Excellent client communication abilities.

• High level of attention to detail.

• Comfortable working in a fully remote, tech-savvy practice.

• Interest in expanding expertise in insurance litigation.

• Preference for candidates in Greenville, SC, though qualified South Carolina-barred attorneys from other locations may be considered.

• Experience in insurance defense is a plus.

• Experience with first-party property insurance is a plus.

• Broader experience in insurance litigation or coverage is advantageous.

• Familiarity with how insurance carriers evaluate, defend, and resolve claims is beneficial.

• Experience with property loss matters such as hail, wind, hurricane, fire, or water damage is desirable.

• Federal court experience is a plus.

• Experience with depositions is a plus.

• Mediation experience is a plus.

• Exposure to bad-faith litigation is a plus.

• Familiarity with Clio software is a plus.

• Additional state bar admissions are a plus.

• Existing referral relationships or interest in business development are advantageous.
