This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.
• Ensure a robust medical and scientific presence for AbbVie at investigational sites and leading scientific centers.
• Facilitate clinical research and interventional phase 1–3 trials involving AbbVie products.
• Provide support for requests related to medical and scientific information concerning relevant products and therapeutic areas.
• Collaborate with Site Management & Monitoring teams on site feasibility assessments, engagement, training, recruitment challenges, and site inquiries.
• Offer scientific and technical leadership in relationships with investigators.
• Consult with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals regarding suitable patient referrals to clinical trial sites and clinical practice topics.
• Act as the main point of contact for external thought leaders concerning Sponsor-Initiated Study concepts and support inquiries.
• Deliver credible scientific presentations on immunology and AbbVie’s research pipeline.
• Engage in identifying qualified external experts for research collaborations, advisory boards, conferences, and symposia.
• Discover R&D collaboration opportunities with institutions and thought leaders, and coordinate with Search & Evaluation, Discovery, and Clinical Development teams.
• Facilitate medical and scientific field intelligence and relay relevant insights internally.
• Attend pertinent internal and external scientific meetings and conferences.
• Assist physicians with named-patient or compassionate-use access requests when legally permitted and requested.
• Provide early-touchpoint insights on clinical practice, identify tier 1 external experts, and guide future clinical development programs where applicable.
• Develop long-term medical strategy and plans from clinical trials through health authority approvals and access.
• Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, policies, and best practices.
• Offer scientific and technical input to local study teams, early brand teams, and external investigators under appropriate medical governance.
• Collaborate with Medical Information teams on unsolicited off-label information requests.
• Build and sustain collaborative relationships with investigators and thought leaders to support AbbVie research and pipeline success.
• An advanced degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.) in a relevant scientific and biologic discipline is strongly preferred; candidates with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and proven experience will also be considered.
• A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in medical affairs or a similar field-based R&D role involving clinical trials and clinical development.
• A strong understanding of the immunology clinical research landscape and the implementation and conduct of clinical trials.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, study investigators, and site personnel.
• Solid knowledge and problem-solving skills to advance the medical and scientific goals of a pharmaceutical company.
• Excellent initiative and judgment, with the ability to represent AbbVie positively and in compliance.
• Expertise in scientific methods applicable to clinical research and relevant legislative/regulatory controls.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build and sustain strong collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and healthcare decision-makers.
• A good understanding of written and spoken English is desirable.
