Pilot Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• The RPO serves as the pilot and other controllers in the Air Traffic Controller training simulator.

• The RPO utilizes a simulated radar display and voice communication system to replicate the actions and communications of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training sessions.

• RPOs take voice commands from students, make the necessary entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, convert displayed information into the relevant ATC terminology, and reply to the student through the VCS using appropriate phraseology.

• The candidate must achieve the following certifications: Classroom (passing a test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (acting as a Remote Pilot Operator across all positions).

⛳️ Requirements

• US Citizenship is mandatory, with the capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Applicants for this role must possess at least a high school diploma (or equivalent) and show basic proficiency in computer skills.

• Candidates should be able to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals and must communicate clearly and understandably.

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (including Multimedia Developers, Quality Assurance, Instructional System Designers, Subject Matter Experts, Instructors) is essential.

• Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab are highly desirable, though not mandatory.

• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

• A working knowledge of the FAAO JO 7110.65 is highly preferred, but not essential.

• Effective team-building abilities are necessary.

• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) is required.

• Basic familiarity with current technological tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.) is expected.

• Basic understanding or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology is preferred.
