This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +4 more states.
β’ Deliver direct patient care within a telemedicine clinical environment, emphasizing evidence-based approaches for obesity treatment and comprehensive diabetes management, which includes insulin titration and care for patients utilizing insulin pumps and/or continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).
β’ Manage your own patient panel while potentially collaborating with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) colleagues and Registered Dietitians who specialize in diabetes treatment, particularly Type 2 Diabetes. This position may entail APP collaboration and supervision.
β’ Review medical charts and conduct initial and follow-up visits for APP patients every third visit to ensure quality, continuity of care, and proper management of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)/End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)/Cardiovascular (CV) conditions.
β’ Provide advanced treatment planning and medical management support for complex endocrinology cases, escalate concerns, and manage patients requiring specialized treatment protocols.
β’ Prescribe non-controlled medications, including those for obesity and diabetes, for patients under direct care as well as in collaboration with APPs.
β’ Facilitate weekly 30-minute collaborative meetings and 30 minutes of asynchronous communication with each assigned Endocrine-Specialized APP to discuss cases, address clinical challenges, and offer ongoing mentorship.
β’ Ensure that clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are consistently adhered to within the team, focusing on guidelines for managing complex diabetic populations.
β’ Support the professional development of colleagues by promoting clinical growth, providing feedback, and encouraging continuing education in endocrinology and obesity medicine.
β’ Engage in team-based care initiatives and nurture a culture of collaboration and high-quality care.
β’ Attend relevant departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the diabetes and obesity medicine program.
β’ Board certification in Endocrinology from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
β’ Certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) or substantial clinical experience (minimum 3 years) in obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy (including older generation oral and newer injectable medications).
β’ Active and unrestricted Medical State License in one of the following states: AL, TN, OK, MO, IN, SC, or GA, along with a current Letter of Qualification (LOQ) from the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
β’ At least 5 years of experience as an attending physician in endocrinology.
β’ Proven competency and comfort in managing patients with intricate co-morbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and CAD/CV conditions.
β’ Expertise in advanced diabetes management, incorporating the use of CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens.
β’ Strong desire to mentor, teach, and collaborate with Endocrine-Specialized APPs and Registered Dietitians who specialize in diabetes.
β’ Demonstrated experience working with APPs, medical residents, or trainees within a clinical academic environment.
β’ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Commitment to evidence-based treatments, behavioral interventions, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy for both endocrine disorders and obesity.

β’ Bilingual candidates with medical fluency in Spanish are highly preferred.
