Physician Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Establish a robust working relationship with the college advisor, functioning as a cohesive team to assist the applicant throughout the application journey.

• Assess the qualifications of high school students aiming to apply for BS/MD programs. This assessment includes reviewing their GPA, SAT/ACT scores, completed coursework, extracurricular activities, and relevant experiences.

• Revise the applicant's BS/MD personal statement and BS/MD supplemental essay questions.

• Work collaboratively with the applicant to formulate a tailored BS/MD school list that aligns with the student’s qualifications, aspirations, and preferences.

• Prepare students for admissions interviews.

• Provide guidance to students during the application process, implementing proactive strategies such as regular check-ins, comprehensive editing, and adherence to timelines and deadlines.

• Manage family expectations and involve them as key members of the broader team supporting the student.

• Assist students in cultivating personal responsibility and managing their workload.

• Share your expertise and insights on critical application questions and scenarios.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD physician, ideally at an attending level, although residents will be considered.

• The applicant MUST have graduated from a U.S. direct medical program (BS/MD, BA/MD, BS/DO, BA/DO).

• Experience working with candidates applying to medical schools.

• Proficiency in utilizing various online communication tools, including Zoom and Google Meet.

• Specialized knowledge in BS/MD and/or BS/DO admissions (preferably with experience on an admissions committee).

• Background in editing college and/or BS/MD/DO applications.

• Proven capability to build strong relationships with families.

• High level of emotional intelligence, particularly in interactions with high school students.

• Strong availability to assist at least 10 students during an application cycle.
