Physical Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and/or review general layouts, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house configurations, grounding designs, conduit and cable designs, bills of materials, and cable schedules.

• Execute project tasks in alignment with project timelines and financial plans.

• Generate physical electrical design submissions.

• Compile equipment specifications, conduct bid assessments, and provide procurement recommendations.

• Collaborate with clients and internal project management teams.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers.

• Manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Create engineering cost estimates for proposals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

• 3-5+ years of experience in physical electrical design within substations.

• At least 2 years of experience leading clients and collaborating with other engineers.

• Strong knowledge of major substation equipment and their operational functions.

• Capability to select and specify substation equipment.

• Familiarity with pertinent industry codes and standards.

• Understanding of electrical calculations necessary for substation design.

• Knowledge of drawings essential for constructing an electrical substation.

• Experience in designing for physical electrical projects within substations.

• Proficient in substation layout and electrical design across various voltage levels (from LV to EHV transmission level voltages).

• Expertise in scoping, engineering cost estimation, and proposal development.

• Ability to manage multiple projects at once.

• Comprehension and commitment to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
