Physical Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and/or review general arrangements, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding designs, conduit and cable designs, bills of materials, and cable schedules.

• Execute project activities in alignment with project timelines and budgets.

• Generate physical electrical design submittals.

• Draft equipment specifications, evaluate bids, and provide procurement recommendations.

• Collaborate with clients and internal project management teams.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers.

• Manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Prepare engineering cost estimates for proposals.

• Assist with scoping, engineering cost estimating, and proposal-related tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

• 3-5+ years of experience in physical electrical design within substations.

• A minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with clients and fellow engineers.

• Familiarity with major substation equipment and its operational functions.

• Capability to select and specify substation equipment.

• Understanding of pertinent industry codes and standards.

• Proficiency in the electrical calculations necessary for substation design.

• Knowledge of the drawings essential for constructing an electrical substation.

• Experience in designing for physical electrical projects in substations.

• Expertise in substation layout and electrical design for voltages ranging from low voltage (LV) to extra high voltage (EHV) transmission levels.

• Skilled in scoping, engineering cost estimating, and proposal support.

• Ability to handle multiple projects at once.

• Comprehension and commitment to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
