Pharmacy Technician – Refill Authorization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Reviews patient charts to confirm the most recent provider visits and verify eligibility for refills under the EMRC collaborative practice agreement.

• Collects and examines relevant clinical information (such as labs, monitoring parameters, and medication history) to support refill requests.

• Prepares and documents refill authorization requests utilizing pharmacy technology systems in compliance with state regulations, policies, and protocols.

• Ensures that all necessary clinical criteria and documentation are complete prior to pharmacist review.

• Routes finalized refill requests to the pharmacist for ultimate verification and processing.

• Engages with pharmacists and care team members regarding any missing information, concerns, or needs for clarification.

• Identifies potential safety issues or gaps in care and escalates them appropriately to the pharmacist.

• Maintains accurate and compliant documentation within the patient record.

• Collaborates effectively as part of a large, remote team; showcases strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to foster positive working relationships across the care team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current pharmacy technician certification and/or license relevant to the state of practice.

• Up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes concerning pharmacy practice and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents.

• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Must hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license in Utah, Colorado, Montana, or Nevada.

• Strong computer skills and the ability to adeptly navigate multiple systems and complex electronic health records in a remote work setting.
