Pharmacist – Specialty

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Ensure that patients receive the appropriate medication, comprehend its usage, and address any drug therapy issues prior to dispensing.

• Review and accurately input prescription orders.

• Offer patient counseling and education regarding medications and treatment plans.

• Verify that prescription data entries are complete and accurate.

• Conduct drug utilization reviews and address therapy-related concerns.

• Collaborate with clinics to clarify and obtain prescriptions.

• Coordinate and assist with pharmacy services, dispensing, quality assurance, and clinical monitoring.

• Assess pharmaceutical needs and engage in pharmaceutical service planning as part of the overall care plan.

• Evaluate the appropriateness of prescriptions, considering dosage, drug selection, interactions, administration route, and stability.

• Supervise activities related to filling, receiving, compounding, and dispensing.

• Ensure that patient charts include allergies, height, weight, medical history, laboratory results, and medications.

• Ensure that necessary laboratory tests are ordered, results are obtained, and discussed with nurses and physicians.

• Provide counseling, education, monitoring, and clinical interventions.

• Assess therapy response and compliance; review treatment regimens and manage adverse events.

• Offer clinical and technical support to physicians, nurses, and patients.

• Document communications within patient charts.

• Maintain required documentation for state and federal agencies as well as the Joint Commission.

• Assist the Pharmacy Manager with the implementation of new procedures.

• Train and supervise Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, and other pharmacy staff.

• Participate in Performance Improvement Projects.

• Conduct in-service programs on drug therapy.

• Attend or complete relevant education and training programs.

• Review pharmacy literature and other pertinent materials.

• Complete competency and skills assessments.

• Participate in the on-call schedule.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist-In-Charge.

• Adhere to all policies and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of Florida, Texas, Missouri, California, or Michigan.

• Must possess an active pharmacist license in Florida, Texas, Missouri, California, or Michigan.

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy with 3+ years of experience in mail order, retail, or hospital pharmacy, or a PharmD.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

• Patient-focused commitment to delivering high-quality specialty care.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday according to Eastern, Central, or Pacific time zones.
