This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate clinical records to assign and arrange diagnostic and procedural codes for specific patient categories.
• Choose and organize ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for assigned patient categories.
• Examine and assess facility documentation to ensure that APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes accurately represent the diagnoses/procedures.
• Extract clinical data from the records following the review of documentation.
• May serve as a resource for client personnel regarding data integrity, providing clarification and support in understanding and identifying appropriate and compliant coding practices.
• Possession of an active AHIMA (American Health Information Association) credential, such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) credential including COC (previously CPC-H), CCS-P, or CPC, or a related specialty credential.
• A minimum of two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience.
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, as well as ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding systems.
• Capability to consistently code at a 95% accuracy rate while adhering to client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards.
• Competent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, with the ability to input data, sort, and filter Excel documents (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Uphold strict confidentiality of patient and provider information in accordance with all HIPAA guidelines.
• Engage in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials.
