Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the precise and prompt processing of payroll for both the U.S. and Canada.

• Balances and manages earnings and deductions for payroll in the U.S. and Canada.

• Conducts audits on HRIS/HR modifications that affect payroll processing.

• Handles special payments, including those for disability, leaves of absence, and severance.

• Responsible for the timely funding of 401k and HSA accounts each pay period.

• Reviews the output of the Payroll automated system for accuracy.

• Examines and rectifies any necessary general ledger entries for U.S. and Canadian payrolls.

• Collaborates with the Canadian office to establish and maintain payroll processes and controls.

• Ensures compliance with payroll regulations in both the U.S. and Canada.

• Updates and creates Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.

• Conducts audits and processes year-end W-2s and T4s.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist for the U.S. and Canada (experience with Ceridian Dayforce payroll system is preferred).

• Prior experience with garnishments is preferred.

• An accounting background is advantageous.

• Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Should consistently adopt a proactive and hands-on approach.

• Ability to manage sensitive documents and uphold confidentiality is essential.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping are required.

• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are an absolute necessity.

• Capability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
