Payroll Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete U.S. payroll processing cycle (multi-state) and Canadian payroll (multi-province) with exceptional precision and attention to detail.

• Process and verify payroll entries including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.

• Ensure accurate calculation and application of federal, state, provincial, and local taxes, benefits, and garnishments.

• Conduct thorough payroll audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis to identify and rectify discrepancies.

• Execute payroll cycles, encompassing both regular and off-cycle payments, ensuring all deadlines are consistently met.

• Maintain strict adherence to all U.S. and Canadian payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state, provincial, and local requirements.

• Prepare and assist with payroll tax filings and year-end processes (e.g., W-2s, T-4s).

• Aid internal and external audits by providing comprehensive and accurate payroll documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 5–8+ years of practical payroll experience with a strong emphasis on U.S. payroll processing.

• Proven expertise in multi-state U.S. payroll compliance and regulations.

• Experience in processing payroll using systems such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian, or similar platforms.

• Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Must be willing to travel occasionally to the Ann Arbor headquarters.

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.

• Experience in supporting payroll system implementations or transformations.
