
Payroll β HRIS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Oversee multi-state payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring precise wage calculations, tax withholdings, and compliance across more than 8 states.
β’ Take ownership of our HRIS β manage employee information, onboarding and offboarding processes, organizational structure modifications, and guarantee data integrity.
β’ Ensure compliance across all kitchen locations β monitor and manage business licenses, health permits, food handler certifications, and sales tax registrations.
β’ Handle payroll tax filings and registrations as we enter new states.
β’ Oversee benefits enrollment, deductions, and reporting in collaboration with HR.
β’ Develop and maintain spreadsheet-based tools and trackers that provide visibility into headcount, payroll expenses, and compliance status.
β’ Reconcile payroll accounts during the monthly closing process, partnering with our accounting team on accruals and adjustments.
β’ Identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement improvements.
β’ 2 to 4 years of experience in payroll, HRIS administration, people operations, or a similar role.
β’ Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets, with ease in using formulas and managing large datasets.
β’ Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
β’ Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
β’ Strong communicator capable of clearly explaining payroll and systems topics to non-technical partners.
β’ Proven ownership and initiative, with the ability to learn quickly, follow through, and enhance work processes.
β’ Degree in HR, business, accounting, or a related discipline.
