This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Confirm that claims are received by payers and follow up to secure payment through phone, portals, or websites.
• Analyze denial codes and explanations of benefits to ascertain appropriate follow-up actions.
• Reach out to payers, resubmit claims, and prepare disputes, appeals, and reconsiderations as necessary.
• Compose appeals and fill out reconsideration forms according to payer specifications.
• Acquire and dispatch medical records to demonstrate medical necessity.
• Examine both paper and electronic billing forms for precision.
• Communicate with patients or payers to gather information required to resolve account balances.
• Recognize and escalate patterns in payer rejections and denials.
• Utilize patient accounting systems, biller files, Revenue Cycle resources, and payer databases to address account issues.
• Investigate and escalate urgent No Authorization denials and significant accounts.
• Handle billing functions as needed.
• Collaborate with management and external departments regarding unresolved accounts and process redesign initiatives.
• Work with Patient Financial staff, including training and sharing documentation.
• Complete special projects and achieve assigned productivity targets.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle Training to facilitate shadowing sessions for new partner orientations.
• Report any equipment malfunctions and supply requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Prior healthcare billing experience is preferred.
• 2–3 years of Revenue Cycle experience within the healthcare sector is mandatory.
• Basic knowledge of navigating multiple software applications concurrently.
• Epic billing or HFMA CRC certification, or an equivalent certification.
• Internal candidates must have achieved a Level 4 or higher on the latest annual evaluation.
