Patient Financial Services Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Analyze charge validation and denial resolutions to identify trends that will enhance the overall accounts receivable (AR).

• Execute a range of patient accounting tasks, including billing for insurance and self-pay, remit analysis, cash posting, accounts receivable management, and claims follow-up.

• Ensure accurate charge capture, billing, and claims adjudication in compliance with federal, state, and private billing regulations.

• Track Discharged Not Final Billed (DNFB) cases to determine necessary actions to reduce the number and value of accounts on hold.

• Assess and escalate patterns for bulk resolution with payers.

• Gather and compare data from diverse sources, reviewing for discrepancies using various applications.

• Assist the Patient Financial Services department in conducting complex process and system analyses.

• Act as a subject matter expert for the assigned service line, providing guidance and communication regarding the billing and collections process.

• Support special projects as directed by Revenue Cycle Leaders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in a hospital or physician billing office.

• Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or physician billing office – required.

• Familiarity with hospital/clinic billing and collections.

• Knowledge of payer remittances, as well as CPT, HCPCS, and Revenue Codes.

• Understanding of billing policies of major insurance companies to ensure compliance.

• Experience in reconciling and balancing payments received against accounts receivable.

• Proficient in medical terminology.

• Strong critical thinking skills, including analyzing, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Capability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
