• Advise patients on their insurance benefits and suggest alternative payment methods and financial assistance by clarifying the financial obligations for services rendered, available payment options, and collection procedures to patients and responsible parties.
• Communicate with insurance providers or other entities while serving as a patient advocate.
• Initiate the collection process for required prepayments and conduct follow-ups to ensure optimal collection outcomes.
• Identify and address challenges associated with registration, financial clearance, insurance authorization requirements, billing issues, insurance explanation of benefits, provider-based billing, governmental regulations, HCAP/FAP policies and limitations, MyAccount, and collections.
• Update and accurately record information in the designated computer systems.
• High School Diploma/GED with three years of experience in a customer-facing role involving in-person or phone interactions, OR an Associate’s Degree with two years of experience, OR a Bachelor’s Degree with one year of experience.
• Experience in collections, with a willingness to engage in patient-facing financial discussions and sensitive payment dialogues.
• Familiarity with Epic and Cisco Systems.
