This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.
• Assists in the enterprise health literacy and patient education strategy by overseeing system-wide patient education programs, ensuring materials are accessible, culturally appropriate, and of high quality, in alignment with Advocate Health Purpose & Commitments and principles of high reliability.
• Oversee the creation, execution, and enhancement of enterprise patient education resources that are consistent with Advocate Health Purpose & Commitments and best practices in health literacy.
• Ensure that all patient-facing educational content adheres to standards for readability, cultural and linguistic appropriateness, accessibility, accuracy, and compliance with high reliability communication expectations.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, Digital, Marketing/Communications, Patient Experience, Health Equity, and Compliance to unify patient education workflows and content governance.
• Cultivate strong relationships with vendors for patient education technologies, ensuring that systems operate reliably and facilitate efficient clinical workflows.
• Support the integration of patient education into EHR workflows, digital platforms, and care pathways to improve understanding and engagement.
• Gather, analyze, and report data regarding the utilization, effectiveness, outcomes, and equity insights of patient education to promote ongoing improvement.
• Collaborate with the Health Literacy Associate Director to enhance system-wide education standards, governance models, and improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate training and skill development for staff on patient education tools, best practices, cultural competence, and communication standards.
• Involve patient advisory groups and frontline clinicians to ensure a patient-centered approach and continuous feedback in educational resources.
• Represent the patient education program in enterprise forums and contribute to cross-departmental initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field is preferred.
• Generally requires 5 years of experience in patient education, health literacy, instructional design, or healthcare program management.
• Experience in program management.
• Clinical experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Experience with Epic and/or Workday.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles, digital education tools, health literacy, accessibility, cultural competence, and healthcare workflows.
