Patient Access Specialist – Full Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate tasks that support front-end revenue cycle and clinic operations for hospital and clinic services.

• Acquire, verify, and input demographic, financial, and clinical data for the financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.

• Reach out to patients' families or physicians' offices to retrieve missing insurance details.

• Confirm insurance eligibility and coverage benefits, and inform patients and referring physicians of any eligibility failures.

• Work alongside scheduling departments to identify additional patients.

• Secure authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.

• Inform patients of their financial responsibilities before services are rendered and collect payments.

• Keep precise records, files, and system documentation.

• Act as a primary resource for junior Patient Services staff.

• Propose strategies to improve performance and efficiency.

• Address technical inquiries from patients, physicians, and staff through phone, email, web messages, and fax.

• Cultivate positive relationships among staff, patients, and families while promoting compassion and care.

• Comply with University and unit-level policies and procedures while protecting University assets.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license required.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary.

• Certification and licensing prerequisites may be applicable based on the department's description.

• Capability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols while adapting to shifting priorities.

• Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

• Proficiency in office software, technology, and pertinent computer applications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to work independently and manage stress in a high-pressure environment.

• Skill in handling complex patient inquiries.

• Availability from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
