Pathology Solutions Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Act as the main subject matter authority for pathology workflows, specimen management needs, and lab operations that support molecular and precision medicine testing.

• Perform thorough onsite and virtual assessments of pathology workflows to evaluate laboratory operations and pinpoint opportunities for process enhancement.

• Collaborate with pathology laboratories to enhance specimen acquisition, handling, preservation, storage, submission practices, and overall lab workflow efficiency.

• Create and implement consultative recommendations aimed at improving specimen quality, testing success rates, turnaround times, and operational performance.

• Work alongside Commercial teams to evaluate customer operational requirements and formulate customized workflow improvement strategies.

• Establish and sustain trusted relationships with pathology laboratory leadership by acting as a strategic operational consultant throughout the customer lifecycle.

• Facilitate onsite customer engagements, workflow mapping sessions, laboratory evaluations, and operational reviews with pathology and laboratory leadership.

• Formulate implementation plans that support the adoption of standardized workflows, operational best practices, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

• Track customer progress post-implementation, identify obstacles to success, and propose corrective actions to maintain operational advancements.

• Design and deliver educational programs for pathology staff focused on specimen collection, handling, preservation, submission requirements, workflow optimization, and operational best practices.

• Produce educational materials, workflow documentation, presentations, and implementation resources to support customer adoption and continuous process improvement.

• Assess pathology performance metrics, operational data, testing results, specimen quality, turnaround times, and workflow efficiency to evaluate laboratory performance.

• Analyze operational trends to identify root causes of performance issues and develop data-driven recommendations for corrective and preventive measures.

• Create and present key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, dashboards, and executive summaries that showcase operational performance and areas for improvement.

• Utilize Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance customer laboratory performance and operational effectiveness.

• Present workflow insights, laboratory performance data, and operational improvement suggestions to pathology leadership and executive stakeholders.

• Investigate and resolve pathology process challenges impacting specimen quality, testing success, laboratory efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Examine Quality Not Sufficient (QNS) trends, specimen acquisition difficulties, pre-qualification delays, and workflow inefficiencies, developing practical improvement strategies.

• Collaborate with Laboratory Operations, Logistics, Commercial, Product Management, Information Systems, and other internal teams to enhance end-to-end specimen management processes.

• Assist in new product launches, operational implementations, customer onboarding activities, and enterprise initiatives to ensure successful laboratory integration.

• Provide customer insights and field feedback to support process improvements, product enhancements, and future operational strategies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, a related STEM field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• At least five (5) years of experience in pathology operations, laboratory operations, healthcare consulting, pathology sales, laboratory process improvement, operational excellence, or a similar healthcare setting.

• Proven experience conducting customer-facing workflow assessments and formulating operational improvement recommendations.

• Experience in presenting operational findings and influencing pathology laboratory leadership and executive stakeholders.

• Strong analytical abilities with a demonstrated capacity to translate operational data into actionable recommendations.

• Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.

• Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness to travel extensively to support onsite customer engagements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and general knowledge of the Internet for business purposes.
