This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage medical coding and data entry/abstraction for various types of hospital visits including Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory, Surgery, Emergency, and Special Procedures.
• Precisely assigns ICD-10-CM and PCS primary and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes based on documentation and in accordance with site-specific guidelines and policies.
• Accurately assigns the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG).
• Properly assigns modifiers to chargemaster items and coder-assigned CPT codes as relevant to outpatient coding.
• Correctly assigns CPT codes to outpatient procedures in alignment with client contracts and documentation.
• Accurately assigns diagnosis codes, assigns appropriate Evaluation & Management (E&M) facility and/or professional fee levels, and assigns infusion and injection CPT codes.
• Capable of creating compliant physician queries.
• Thoroughly reviews claims for medical necessity.
• Updates problem lists in accordance with client contracts.
• Correctly assigns present on admission indicators.
• Delivers exceptional customer service to clients and teammates.
• Consistently exhibits a positive attitude and works to enhance team cohesion.
• Demonstrates the ability to float between multiple sites and coding specialties with adaptability and flexibility.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience; AHIMA or AAPC certification is mandatory.
• Actively holds one or more of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC.
• Experience in surgical coding with orthopedic experience/OBS.
• Familiarity with device codes is a plus.
• Consistently meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management abilities.
• Detail-oriented and capable of following through on issues to resolution.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
