Outsourced Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• You will act as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of clients based in the US — proactively communicating, participating in calls and meetings, and ensuring that every interaction meets our high standards for service and responsiveness.

• You will onboard new clients, developing the accounting processes, systems, and procedures that establish each relationship for long-term success.

• You will oversee special projects such as system migrations, M&A preparation, budget development, chart of accounts redesigns, and other strategic financial initiatives.

• You will prepare and review timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports, offering strategic financial guidance to clients regarding growth, investor reporting, and compliance.

• You will lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals — delegating daily tasks, reviewing and approving work products for accuracy and quality, and coordinating workloads across multiple client engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of comprehensive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller role at a US-based public accounting firm.

• Proven experience in supporting investor-backed (VC/PE) or high-growth businesses with over $5 Million in annual revenue.

• Extensive technical expertise in US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and US compliance, including payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses — as well as hands-on experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, and Advanced Excel.

• Capability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously without sacrificing quality — experience in a multi-client outsourced or CAS environment is highly preferred.

• Background in managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, with the ability to delegate, review work, and ensure team members meet deadlines and quality standards.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convert complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for founders, CFOs, and investors.

• A humble attitude with a willingness to accept coaching and critique; always striving for improvement.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and reliability in all tasks.
