Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee all accounting functions associated with the California joint venture.

• Lead the development and examination of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.

• Supervise and nurture the accounting team responsible for accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, revenue recognition, and fixed assets.

• Drive inventory cost accounting and the implementation of ERP systems.

• Establish and uphold strong internal controls for financial reporting.

• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to guarantee timeliness and precision.

• Implement and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and financial accuracy.

• Research and apply complex accounting standards while ensuring compliance with tax reporting requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is mandatory.

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role or higher.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and public company accounting.

• Experience with a Big 4 or national public accounting firm is highly preferred.

• Prior experience in the cannabis, manufacturing, and consumer packaged goods sectors is advantageous.

• Exceptional technical accounting expertise and analytical skills.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of explaining complex accounting issues to non-accountants.

• High attention to detail, integrity, and a dedication to continuous improvement.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred) and advanced Excel capabilities.
