This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee, guide, and manage the Outside Sales department in the creation, execution, and implementation of a sales and marketing strategy.
• Identify the volume of products sold by ThyssenKrupp Materials NA within the region.
• Ascertain the factors that drive customer purchasing decisions.
• Create profiles of competitors.
• Perform SWOT analyses comparing ThyssenKrupp Materials NA with customer buying motivations and the competitors' customer satisfaction strategies.
• Set benchmarks for ThyssenKrupp Materials NA's market participation.
• Formulate a marketing strategy for the region.
• Analyze transaction-level pricing and adjust ThyssenKrupp Materials NA's pricing as necessary to achieve volume and profit targets.
• Identify requirements for advertising and marketing support.
• Disseminate the market plan throughout the territorial sales organization.
• Create a sales plan for each territory in collaboration with territory sales staff.
• Develop customer profiles alongside sales personnel.
• Gather competitive pricing information and assess ThyssenKrupp Materials NA's pricing practices against competitors at the transaction level.
• Determine customer inventory needs.
• Submit requests for item authorization for “N” items.
• Monitor E-item activity and implement necessary adjustments.
• Coordinate outside sales, inside sales, operational, and credit activities.
• Set and track goals and objectives for each salesperson.
• Establish and oversee selling expense budgets for each sales representative.
• Conduct quarterly performance evaluations for each salesperson.
• Organize bi-weekly sales meetings with outside sales personnel.
• Accompany sales representatives on calls to selected accounts.
• Provide necessary training for outside sales staff.
• Assist regional and corporate credit managers in enhancing receivables turnover.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) required.
• Proficient in computer usage.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in outside sales.
• Familiarity with Total Quality Management (TQM) and ISO9000 standards.
• Knowledge of finance for non-financial managers, strategic selling, and time management is essential.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Completion of or pursuing an MBA.
• Training and/or experience in metallurgy.
• Experience in leadership and team building.
• Training in strategic planning and motivation.
• One (1) to two (2) years of operations experience.
• One (1) to two (2) years of inside sales experience.
