This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.
• Manage high-severity and complex first-party property claims up to $150,000, with the possibility of handling larger losses as needed by the business.
• Conduct investigations, evaluations, estimations, and negotiations for personal or business property claims.
• Perform field inspections, assess damages, capture photographs, and create written or computer-assisted estimates.
• Utilize innovative technologies and cost assessment tools to evaluate damages.
• Review policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documents affecting coverage, damages, business interruption, and liability.
• Obtain recorded or written statements as necessary.
• Set timely and precise claim and expense reserves.
• Calculate settlement amounts using estimates, actual cash value, replacement value, contractor validation, appraisals, limits, and deductibles.
• Negotiate settlements with contractors, representatives of insured parties, and other stakeholders within established authority limits.
• Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other complex correspondence.
• Maintain claim diaries and manage required data and documentation within claim files.
• Oversee file inventory to ensure timely resolutions and adherence to state regulations.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to insured individuals, agents, internal customers, and business partners.
• Refer claims to the Travelers Investigative Services, Subrogation Unit, and Major Case Unit when appropriate.
• Execute administrative tasks including managing expense accounts and time-off reporting.
• Mentor and guide less experienced claims professionals.
• Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.
• Engage experts and provide assistance to the Litigation Claim Unit.
• Participate in the Catastrophe Response Program and deploy to other states as necessary.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A minimum of three years of experience in handling Personal Insurance or Business Insurance Property claims.
• General familiarity with the estimating system Xactimate.
• Advanced skills in customer service, interpersonal communication, organization, and time management.
• Strong ability to work independently.
• Exceptional judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient negotiation abilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong investigative capabilities.
• Advanced proficiency in analyzing and determining coverage.
• Advanced skills in assessing and evaluating damages.
• Proven ability to resolve claims within settlement authority.
• Valid passport.
• Valid driver's license.
• Insurance License(s) and/or UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be required; necessary insurance licenses must generally be acquired within three months of starting.
• Ongoing continuing education requirements for insurance licenses must be upheld.
• Capability to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure.
• Ability to carry, set up, and climb a 38- to 49-pound ladder, walk on roofs, and enter confined spaces.
• Willingness to participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, including potential deployment away for a minimum of 16 days.
• Must secure and maintain a company credit card.
