This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Plays a vital role in enhancing audit consistency, accuracy, and completeness by converting audit results into impactful learning experiences.
• Aids the Outpatient Audit program by providing and reinforcing training to boost coding accuracy and audit quality in accordance with EXL standards.
• Utilizes insights from random and targeted outpatient coding audits to pinpoint learning gaps and deliver focused training, refreshers, and performance support centered on medical documentation review and coding guideline application.
• Collaborates closely with Quality Analysts, Auditors, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure that training content aligns with current outpatient coding requirements and audit standards.
• Facilitates onboarding training for new outpatient coders and refresher training for experienced coders.
• Designs and maintains training materials and modules related to medical coding and billing, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M coding.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• CCS or CPC certification.
• At least 5 years of coding experience: Professional or hospital coding with a comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 Coding; HCPCS/CPT coding systems; Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC).
• Proficient in Medicare Local Coverage Determinations (LCD) and National Coverage Determinations (NCD).
• Proven ability in training facilitation, including delivering instructor-led, virtual, and blended training to adult learners.
• Strong working knowledge of outpatient clinical coding, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and documentation requirements.
• Skilled in modifier application in accordance with Medicare and NCCI guidelines.
• Capable of coding a diverse range of complex outpatient services such as interventional radiology, ambulatory surgery, emergency room, and observation.
• Ability to communicate complex coding guidelines and audit concepts clearly, engagingly, and practically.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the capacity to engage learners and manage group dynamics in a virtual setting.
• Strong analytical skills to identify knowledge gaps, recurring errors, and training prospects based on audit trends.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Quality, Audit, and SME partners in a cross-functional, remote environment.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to oversee multiple training initiatives and deadlines.
• Comfort with technology-based training and collaboration tools (e.g., virtual meeting platforms, LMS, MS Teams).
• Proficient in personal computer skills, including experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
