Outpatient Surgery & Observation Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conducts thorough reviews of outpatient medical records to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for same-day surgery and observation accounts.

• Consistently meets and surpasses productivity and quality benchmarks (with a target of 6.25/hour for SDS and 3.5/hour for OBS).

• Updates charges as necessary and ensures the timely processing of records.

• Reviews assigned tasks and makes corrections to codes when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, along with the completion of a coding certification program.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience in a hospital facility setting is required.

• Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding is essential.

• A coding credential from AHIMA/AAPC (such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS) is necessary.
