This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review patient medical records and accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence and assign codes based on the documentation within the medical records.
• Determine the correct discharge disposition.
• Abstract and input coded data to meet hospital statistical and reporting needs.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to relevant personnel for follow-up and resolution.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate along with a 95% accuracy rate for APC assignments while adhering to site-specific productivity standards.
• Oversee the tracking of continuing education credits to uphold professional credentials.
• Participate in education meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
• Exhibit initiative and sound judgment in executing job responsibilities.
• Engage with co-workers, management, and hospital staff concerning clinical and reimbursement matters.
• Operate in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Comply with the American Health Information Management Association’s code of ethics.
• Display a customer-service orientation along with professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
• Manage a high level of work complexity and decision-making.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork capabilities.
• Adhere to all HIM Division Policies.
• AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• Minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital setting and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficient in most or all coding specialties, including Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Injections/Infusions.
• Proficient in various coding specialties, such as Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, skilled in remote work, and exceptional time management capabilities.
• Familiarity with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
