Outpatient Coding Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct reviews and audits of medical records and other documentation to ensure accurate coding.

• Assess the correctness of principal and secondary diagnoses, including MCC and CC, as well as procedure codes.

• Comply with official coding guidelines, coding clinics, regulatory requirements, and mandates.

• Utilize advanced ICD-10 coding expertise to support conclusions.

• Employ proprietary auditing systems to record audit findings and their rationale.

• Consistently meet productivity and quality performance benchmarks.

• Cross-train to conduct reviews of various claim types.

• Support management in training new Coding Auditors by providing monitoring, mentoring, feedback, and education.

• Participate in training sessions and scheduled meetings to improve knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• One or more active professional credentials from AHIMA or AAPC: CPC, COC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT; required.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in outpatient medical record coding and/or auditing; required.

• Proven expertise in medical record auditing.

• Proven expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, APC, ASC, HCPCS, and CPT coding methodologies.

• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet browsers, and virtual meeting platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

• Extensive experience with outpatient coding edits.

• Strong understanding of reimbursement guidelines, particularly EAPG, ASC, and APC payment systems.

• Capability to maintain coding certification through necessary CEUs.
