This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate medical records and accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Precisely assign and sequence codes according to the documentation found in medical records.
• Determine the correct discharge disposition.
• Abstract and input coded data for hospital statistical analysis and reporting requirements.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to the relevant personnel for resolution.
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and a 95% accuracy rate for APC assignments while meeting site-specific productivity standards.
• Take responsibility for tracking continuing education credits necessary to uphold professional credentials.
• Participate in education meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
• Exhibit initiative and sound judgment in fulfilling job responsibilities.
• Engage with colleagues, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement matters.
• Operate in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Adhere to the ethical guidelines set forth by the American Health Information Management Association.
• Maintain a customer-service orientation and demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
• Manage a high level of complexity in work functions and decision-making.
• Exhibit strong organizational and teamwork abilities.
• Comply with all HIM Division Policies.
• AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient coding.
• Proficient in most or all of the following coding specialties: Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficient in most or all of the following coding specialties: Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in remote work and excellent time management abilities.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
