This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
β’ Utilize open-source investigative and analytical methods, including geolocation, chronolocation, and satellite imagery analysis, to gather, organize, verify, and analyze data from open sources. Ensure that the information is recorded in databases with predefined fields, is properly sourced, and thoroughly addresses the project's scope.
β’ Play a key role in the timely delivery of high-quality project outputs, including reports and briefings.
β’ Develop customized training materials and conduct pre- and post-training assessments to tailor training programs effectively.
β’ Manage or collaborate on joint open-source research initiatives with external Civil Society Organization (CSO) partners.
β’ Mentor CSOs on open-source investigative techniques, data visualization, digital security, and the mitigation of vicarious trauma, as well as on collaborative research projects and investigations.
β’ Provide both in-person and remote training to CSOs on OSINT topics (from beginner to intermediate/advanced levels), data visualization, digital security, and vicarious trauma mitigation. This role may require occasional travel for training delivery.
β’ Collaborate closely with other trainers and investigators.
β’ Participate in internal evaluations of project effectiveness and identify potential areas for enhancing the efficiency of project activities.
β’ A proven history of OSINT-driven investigations, including expertise in geolocation and chronolocation techniques, as well as social media monitoring. Experience in supporting CSOs with digital investigations is highly preferred.
β’ Prior experience conducting OSINT research focusing on Sudan and/or East Africa.
β’ Fluency in Arabic at a C1 / Professional level proficiency.
β’ Strong proficiency in satellite imagery analysis, with familiarity in using tools such as Planet.
β’ Extensive experience in delivering OSINT training and mentorship, both in-person and remotely, covering a range of topics from beginner to intermediate/advanced levels.
β’ Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating effective time management and task prioritization skills.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including the skill to simplify technical terminology for general audiences.
β’ Willingness to travel for in-person capacity building and training delivery.
