Operations Research Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, design, and create optimization models for workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation in contact centers.

• Develop and implement the schedule optimization engine utilizing OR-Tools/CP-SAT.

• Take ownership of the entire constraint model by translating business rules into a solvable and maintainable framework.

• Create a production-grade solver as a service within the Workforce Management (WFM) platform.

• Establish and validate schedule quality metrics, including coverage attainment, constraint violations, solve time, and solution stability across re-solves.

• Implement monitoring tools for quality assessment in a production environment.

• Design and execute tests to validate optimization algorithms for performance, scalability, and accuracy.

• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to incorporate optimization models into a robust enterprise-grade optimization engine.

• Work closely with workforce-planning and real-time-analyst stakeholders to confirm the validity of generated schedules.

• Effectively communicate and present findings, methodologies, and results to both engineering and business stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in designing and implementing optimization solutions within production environments.

• Practical experience with OR-Tools (CP-SAT) or a similar constraint-programming/mixed-integer-programming solver.

• Solid understanding of linear programming, integer programming, or stochastic optimization techniques.

• Proven experience in modeling and solving workforce or resource scheduling challenges.

• Familiarity with large datasets and the ability to tackle large-scale optimization problems.

• Proficient in Java, Python, or C++ programming languages.

• Experience in converting complex business requirements into mathematical models and optimization objectives.

• Strong software engineering capabilities to build production-ready services and validation frameworks.
