This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing enterprise batch processing, executing payment disbursements, integrating financial systems, and coordinating efforts among multiple agencies to support the VA’s critical financial management systems.
• This position provides technical leadership across various environments, manages high-volume processing operations, leads a team, offers guidance, interacts with VA leadership and stakeholders, and supports customers beyond standard business hours. Additionally, it serves as a vital liaison with Treasury, federal partners, and senior VA executives.
• Lead a team tasked with managing Batch Operations for the VA, overseeing over 1000 jobs daily across five environments.
• Supervise and execute payment disbursements in collaboration with Treasury.
• Assist with the Accounting Year End and Annual Close processes.
• Lead the coordination and scheduling of Wave go-live activities.
• Oversee and organize Disaster Recovery exercises.
• Provide customer support outside of core business hours to ensure operational continuity.
• Manage OpenShift administration, including log reviews and platform support.
• Direct Control M administration, covering scheduling, automation packages, upgrades, license tracking, and training.
• Handle Linux server administration tasks such as FTP, account management, and access controls.
• Utilize Shell, Perl, SQL, and WebMethods for automation and operational assistance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues using Java and C++ logs.
• Lead, validate, and coordinate necessary data fixes.
• Support updates to iFAMS configuration.
• Provide user provisioning assistance.
• Create and maintain ATO security documentation.
• Collaborate with Network Operations to facilitate secure external connections.
• Offer audit support, including documentation, traceability, and evidence provision.
• Act as a liaison with Treasury, GSA, USDA, US Bank, and other external partners regarding MOUs, ISAs, and system connectivity.
• Engage with VA leadership and stakeholders, preparing and delivering status updates.
• Support O&M status gathering and reporting for Program leadership.
• Serve as the Agile planning lead and Scrum Master.
• Manage team tasking, delivery commitments, and progress tracking.
• Mentor and develop team members.
• Provide direction and leadership oversight to ensure cohesive team execution.
• Proven experience leading operations within complex enterprise environments characterized by high-volume batch pipelines.
• Expertise in Control M, OpenShift, Linux, scripting languages, and SQL.
• Familiarity with federal financial systems or large-scale payment operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across multiple programming languages.
• Experience in producing ATO-compliant documentation and supporting audit processes.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with executives and across agencies.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile leadership.
