Operations Engineer – Utility BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Assessing initial case notifications, alarms, trips, and performance inconsistencies.

• Conducting remote diagnostics on BMS, EMS, SCADA, PCS/inverters, PPC, HVAC, fire systems, switchgear, and communication systems.

• Assisting with safe remote resets, restarts, return-to-service verifications, and incident response actions.

• Collaborating with field teams, OEMs, asset owners, contractors, and internal O&M personnel.

• Compiling technical reports, incident documentation, alarm summaries, and maintenance support details.

• Aiding in root cause analysis, warranty claims, availability tracking, and ongoing improvement efforts.

• Updating alarm response manuals, escalation protocols, and troubleshooting processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical degree in electrical engineering, power systems, automation, renewables, or a related field.

• Experience in BESS, renewables, power generation, substations, industrial maintenance, or electrical O&M.

• Familiarity with SCADA, EMS, BMS, PCS/inverters, PPC, CMMS, and industrial communication systems.

• Excellent troubleshooting, reporting, and communication skills with stakeholders.

• Capability to perform under pressure and support shift/on-call duties when necessary.

• Preferred: Experience with utility-scale BESS.

• Knowledge of fire systems, HVAC, protection relays, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, or VPN-based remote access.

• HV/LV electrical safety training or certification.

• Prior experience in a control room, NOC, remote operations center, or technical service setting.

• Proficiency in English; knowledge of a second language is advantageous.
