Operations Engineer

Posted 1 hour ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Take charge of cross-functional automation initiatives. Collaborate with Operations, Member Care, Finance, Product, Engineering, and leadership to identify troublesome manual processes, establish requirements, and implement lasting solutions that significantly minimize or eliminate that work.

β€’ Thoroughly comprehend and document current processes. Engage with stakeholders, outline existing workflows step-by-step, pinpoint areas where time is wasted and errors occur, and assess the costs associated with maintaining the current state to ensure appropriate prioritization of issues.

β€’ Create sophisticated automation solutions. Convert complex, real-world processes into clear, maintainable designs. Identify the most impactful automation opportunities, select the appropriate methods, and consider edge cases, failure scenarios, and the individuals who will depend on the results.

β€’ Develop, test, and sustain automations. Create, evaluate, document, and uphold models, scripts, integrations, and AI-driven workflows that effectively take over manual tasks, ensuring their functionality as source systems and requirements evolve.

β€’ Leverage AI tools as a fundamental aspect of your development process. Utilize Claude and other AI tools to design and construct automations β€” including LLM-driven workflows and agents β€” while ensuring output validation, error management, and data quality preservation.

β€’ Convert business ambiguity into actionable solutions. Lead stakeholder discovery sessions, pose insightful questions, clarify trade-offs, and transform vague complaints such as "this takes forever and breaks all the time" into practical, well-defined deliverables.

β€’ Assess and enhance impact. Monitor the time saved, errors mitigated, and throughput increased from the automations delivered, using this information to prioritize subsequent opportunities.

β€’ Oversee and resolve automation issues. Recognize when an automation fails or deteriorates due to changes in source systems, schema alterations, API updates, or new edge cases, and rectify the situation swiftly and effectively.

β€’ Elevate the standards for the Data team. Contribute to coding standards, documentation, testing methodologies, reusable components, and overall confidence in the automations relied upon by the client. Assist in freeing the rest of the team from reactive manual requests.

β€’ Perform other tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Approximately 4-5 years of experience in automation, software engineering, scripting-intensive operations, process enhancement, data engineering-related roles, or a similar field; equivalent demonstrated experience will also be considered.

β€’ Proficient in Python and SQL, including the ability to write clean, maintainable code, work with APIs, manage errors and edge cases, and automate multi-step processes.

β€’ Experience in integrating systems and transferring data between them through APIs, webhooks, files, or similar methods.

β€’ Proven track record of collaborating closely with non-technical stakeholders to understand and document actual work processes, and to design solutions that align with real-world scenarios.

β€’ Familiarity with insurance, healthcare, benefits, claims, commissions, billing, eligibility, carrier files, CRM, member, or agent data.

β€’ Ability to translate business inquiries and challenges into precise requirements and technical outputs.

β€’ Capacity to manage projects independently while ensuring stakeholder alignment.

β€’ Strong communication abilities with both technical and non-technical audiences.

β€’ Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

β€’ Capability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with competing priorities.

🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.

β€’ Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.

β€’ Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

β€’ Flexible work arrangements.
