• The ROC Team Lead serves as the senior technical operator within ESS’s Remote Operations Center, reporting directly to the Engineering & ROC Manager.
• Integrate hands-on solar fleet monitoring for over 900 MW of distributed generation assets with the daily coordination of the ROC analyst team.
• Manage shift scheduling, escalation workflows, and maintain quality standards for the ROC’s monitoring and dispatch operations.
• Maintain a monitoring load while mentoring junior analysts and promoting process improvements.
• Oversee daily ROC operations, ensuring smooth shift handoffs, task prioritization, and effective workload distribution among the analyst team.
• Guide and nurture junior Operations Analysts on best practices for monitoring, alert triage, and escalation procedures.
• Act as the main escalation point for intricate or unclear alerts prior to forwarding them to Engineering.
• Diligently monitor and evaluate daily performance data for ESS’s distributed solar portfolio to detect equipment outages and underperformance issues.
• Gather fault information and communicate effectively with field technicians, management, and clients to initiate service tickets.
• Respond to alerts generated by DAS monitoring platforms and SCADA systems, notifying the relevant parties within established response times.
• Assist field technicians with troubleshooting systems and identifying issues to escalate to the Engineering & ROC Manager.
• Conduct monthly performance analyses and report findings to clients, diagnosing and troubleshooting DAS/SCADA issues.
• Develop and maintain documentation to adequately support the operational fleet.
• 3-4 years of experience in solar PV fleet monitoring or remote operations, particularly with distributed generation (C&I, community solar) strongly preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, with a preference for electrical engineering. Equivalent experience in solar operations may be accepted in place of a degree.
• Proven experience with commercial DAS/monitoring platforms (e.g., Also Energy, Power Factors, SolarEdge), SCADA systems, and network communications.
• Familiarity with protective relay settings and event analysis (experience with SEL preferred).
• Demonstrated capability to mentor, train, or lead technical team members.
• Prior experience as a team lead or shift supervisor is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency with CMMS software (ESS utilizes Salesforce).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and delegate effectively.
