This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Develops and sustains logical, semantically rich, and scalable ontologies that define and organize knowledge within the K-12 education sector and HMH products.
β’ Facilitates integration between the ontology management system and source data management repositories, which includes the development of triple stores and conducting investigations through SPARQL queries.
β’ Maintains the accuracy and consistency of ontological structures by conducting regular quality checks and making updates as necessary.
β’ Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to comprehend their information requirements and deliver ontological solutions.
β’ Produces thorough documentation for ontologies and knowledge graphs.
β’ An advanced degree in philosophy, computer science, information science, or a quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
β’ Expertise in ontology modeling languages such as RDF, OWL, or SHACL, as well as vocabularies like SKOS.
β’ Knowledge of query languages such as SQL and SPARQL, or other property graph query languages like Gremlin and openCypher.
β’ Experience in semantic data integration and proficiency with graph databases/triplestores.
β’ Ability to integrate diverse data sets into a unified vocabulary and to write effective queries for production environments.
β’ Practical experience with high-level programming and scripting languages, including Python, R, and Java.
β’ Strong software engineering practices applied to semantic and analytical assets: git, pull requests/code review, and test/validation methodologies.
