Oncology Field Medical Director, Thoracic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement Medical strategies and engagement initiatives for designated customers within the New England region.

• Stay informed about pertinent therapeutic areas, conditions, and Pfizer products.

• Offer therapeutic area and product insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a resource and liaison for Medical Information and client insights.

• Collaborate with headquarters Medical teams, Medical Information, and Field Medical staff.

• Provide approved medical and scientific education to healthcare professionals through various channels including live, virtual, written, and telephonic methods.

• Integrate health literacy and cultural sensitivity into Medical communications.

• Identify and engage key customer segments.

• Address unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals in alignment with Pfizer guidelines.

• Facilitate advisory boards with managerial oversight and vendor partnership as necessary.

• Manage incoming healthcare professional inquiries through established triage protocols.

• Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, particularly those serving under-represented patient populations.

• Provide Medical support during the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Enhance therapeutic area knowledge through congress data and disease-state literature.

• Lead asset management initiatives.

• Clarify study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation to clients.

• Guide the territory through strategic planning, prioritization, and accountability for medical outcomes.

• Engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups in partnership with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver actionable insights regarding patient organizations, patient needs, treatment patterns, standards of care, and unmet data requirements.

• Participate in Medical, therapeutic area, and asset cross-functional committees.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs in clinical and professional associations and societies.

• Mentor new partners, advisory board leads, and study leads.

• Engage in special projects as required.

• Travel frequently for meetings with healthcare professionals/customers, headquarters engagements, and regional and national scientific congresses.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a health science is mandatory.

• Required experience includes: PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience.

• Recognized subject matter expert among both internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven leadership experiences and capabilities, with a strong ability to influence, collaborate with peers, and create business impact.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflicts constructively.

• Capability to handle a substantial volume of projects in a remote setting, prioritize effectively, implement successfully, and exercise sound judgment.

• Ability to thrive in a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team environment.

• Capacity to lead change and exhibit change agility.

• Proficient problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking abilities.

• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork with both internal stakeholders and external clients.

• Self-motivated, accountable, urgent, and results-driven.

• Demonstrate clinical and technical competencies.

• Ability to swiftly adopt and utilize new digital technologies and document medical interactions.

• Must be able to operate a Pfizer company vehicle and regularly travel by airplane.

• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.

• Must reside within reasonable proximity to an airline hub city.

• Availability to work on weekends.

• Current residency in MA, ME, VT, NH, or CT is required.

• Candidates must have authorization to be employed in the U.S. by any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is essential.

• PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations is preferred.

• Prior Field Medical experience is preferred.
