This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina, +1 more state.
• Lead and/or participate in archaeology and cultural resources studies, whether as independent projects or as part of multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Perform background research, field surveys, laboratory analysis, eligibility assessments, and technical reporting.
• Assist in project-level analysis and programmatic solutions for NEPA, Section 106, and relevant state compliance.
• Conduct archaeological surveys, testing, and data recovery in the Southeastern US and Mid-Atlantic regions.
• Supervise on-call staff engaged in close-interval shovel tests and formal excavation units.
• Provide analytical support and documentation for environmental regulatory reviews under NEPA, NHPA, and state guidelines.
• Develop technical methodologies, execute analysis and documentation, and collaborate with both junior and senior team members.
• Write and compile technical reports and other necessary documentation.
• Assess resources for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places.
• Formulate resource management recommendations and evaluate project impacts on resources.
• Work in conjunction with architectural and landscape historians on comprehensive cultural resources management.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, planners, regulators, and various stakeholders.
• Master’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a related discipline.
• Over 3 years of professional experience in a related field.
• Compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeology.
• Capability to carry out fieldwork in remote settings and comfort within field environments.
• Knowledge of archaeological practices in the Southeastern US.
• Understanding of NEPA, NHPA, and other applicable state and federal environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Exceptional technical writing and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS and experience using various GPS equipment.
• Registration as a Professional Archaeologist is preferred.
• Significant experience engaging in or assisting with consultations involving Tribal representatives.
• Experience in developing project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and tracking QA/QC processes.
• Ability to adhere to project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
• Strong problem-solving, creativity, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Capacity to work effectively within collaborative multidisciplinary teams.
• A strong inclination towards ongoing professional development.

• On-call employees may undertake concurrent projects outside their ICF assignment as long as there are no conflicts of interest.
