This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee case management for U.S. workers’ compensation, focusing on cost control and return-to-work strategies in collaboration with employees, managers, HR, medical providers, third-party administrators, insurance partners, and legal advisors.
• Administer occupational health programs that encompass travel health, medical surveillance, ergonomics, injury prevention, AED readiness, wellness, and other health initiatives for employees.
• Develop processes, metrics, and governance to ensure uniform program execution across various regions and sites while adhering to local regulatory standards.
• Enhance occupational health and workers’ compensation processes by embracing continuous improvement, digitization, and a more effective use of data.
• Collaborate with EHS, HR, Treasury, Security, business leaders, regional teams, and external service providers to align priorities, tackle challenges, and facilitate implementation.
• Supervise external partners in occupational health, third-party administrators, insurance brokers, travel health providers, and additional service providers.
• Ensure that programs are in compliance with regulations, company standards, insurance mandates, and EHS management expectations.
• Make risk-based decisions regarding injuries, illnesses, claims, return-to-work limitations, investigations, corrective actions, and case escalations.
• Assist in audits and self-assessments.
• Offer expert knowledge and specialized training on workers’ compensation, case management, cost management, ergonomics, injury prevention, early intervention, AED awareness, emergency response, and occupational health hazards.
• Evaluate claims, incidents, return-to-work scenarios, costs, and program data to pinpoint trends, establish KPIs, assess risks, and create executive-ready business cases, presentations, and recommendations.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental health and safety, occupational health and safety, public health, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, occupational safety, or a related technical field; relevant equivalent experience may be accepted.
• More than 8 years of pertinent experience in EHS, occupational health, workers’ compensation case management, regulatory compliance, or similar employee health programs.
• Strong background in managing workers’ compensation cases, cost containment, return-to-work processes, and stakeholder coordination, ideally across multiple U.S. states.
• Experience in supporting occupational health or EHS programs in environments such as fieldwork, laboratories, chemical handling, manufacturing, ergonomics, soft-tissue injury, or vehicle-related exposures.
• Proven experience working within global or matrixed teams and collaborating across different regions and time zones.
• Ability to develop and present executive-ready business cases, recommendations, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated sound judgment, integrity, initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to make practical decisions in time-sensitive scenarios.
• Proficiency in Office 365 or similar productivity tools, with a capability to adopt new systems, reporting tools, and data-driven methodologies.
• Preferred certifications such as COHN, COHN-S, CPDM, CDMS, CCM, CWCP, ARM, AIC, or other related credentials in occupational health, workers’ compensation, disability management, risk management, claims, or case management.
