Observability Implementation Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Design and implement observability solutions based on Datadog across various infrastructures, applications, and cloud environments.

• Lead the transition from legacy monitoring systems (such as LogicMonitor) to Datadog.

• Deploy and configure Datadog agents in distributed settings (Linux, Windows, cloud).

• Create dashboards, monitors, alerts, and service maps that align with both business and technical KPIs.

• Implement log ingestion pipelines, APM tracing, and metrics correlation.

• Configure Datadog Watchdog for anomaly detection and AI-driven alerting.

• Enable monitoring for serverless and database environments (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, SQL/NoSQL systems).

• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform for consistent observability deployments.

• Enforce security best practices, including PII masking and access controls.

• Collaborate with customer teams to establish SLOs, SLIs, and alerting strategies.

• Provide documentation, facilitate knowledge transfer, and ensure operational handoff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Datadog (APM, logs, metrics, dashboards).

• Proven experience migrating from other monitoring platforms (e.g., LogicMonitor).

• Strong understanding of observability concepts (traces, metrics, logs, alerting).

• Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform.

• Familiarity with GIT and CI/CD processes (GitHub, GitHub Actions).

• Experience in observability for serverless and database environments.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
